Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School in Redditch is proud to announce the grading of Outstanding in ALL areas from the Ofsted inspection undertaken on the 16th and 17th of April 2024. Led by the Principal Luke Payton and the dedicated staff team, the school has demonstrated excellence across the board, reflecting its commitment to continuous improvement and student success. The school had previously been judged Outstanding by Ofsted in 2017 and 2023, and is also, graded an Outstanding Catholic school in 2019.
Principal Luke Payton commented, “I am very proud that that the work of the school has been recognised. It is a testament to the commitment and hardwork of all our students and staff. We look forward to continuing on our journey of providing an exceptional education for all.”
CEO Tom Leverage commented, “This is a wonderful result for the St Augustine’s community who have supported the school so diligently over many years. The school prides itself on the close working relationships it fosters with parents and stakeholders, and it is lovely to have this recognised by Ofsted. The exceptional staff are always outward looking, providing support to multiple schools and trusts, commissioned by the Department for Education through the Trust and School Improvement offer. Through this outreach work and its academic excellence, it has firmly established itself as one of the top performing schools in the country.”
The school consistently achieves outstanding results in GCSE and A-level examinations, ranked in the top 1% of schools nationwide. It is the top performing school in Worcestershire and prides itself in achievement for all who attend the school as reflected in its continually high Progress 8 scores. This exceptional performance reflects the school's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success. In the words of Ofsted, ‘Pupils are, rightly, proud to attend this excellent school. They meet its high expectations excelling academically and flourishing into well-rounded individuals.’ During the inspectors’ visit, they noticed that ‘staff have high expectations for pupils’ conduct, and pupils rise to meet them.’
An area that was evident to inspectors throughout the inspection was the aspect of respect and community between staff and pupils. Ofsted concluded that ‘Relationships between staff and pupils are warm and kind, which strengthens pupils’ exceedingly strong attitudes to learning.’
Saint Augustine’s is not only excelling in its local community but also making a significant impact nationally as part of the Our Lady of the Magnificat MAT. As one of the first DfE accredited National Behaviour Hubs (one of only 22 schools in the country), and also, a Teaching School, it has supported upwards of 40 schools nationwide, leveraging its expertise to improve behaviour culture and outcomes. The impact on those schools has been considerable, in terms of Ofsted outcomes, pupil achievement and community engagement.
