Teaching Assistant Level 2

Our Lady of the Magnificat MAC are looking to recruit a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a fixed term basis until July 2025, based at St Marys Catholic Primary School, Henley in Arden Warwickshire.

The Role

We are looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant for 28 hours per week. It is our intention that this role will be to support a child with SEMH needs, so the successful candidate needs to have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and be able to use their initiative to adapt to the needs of the child, and have an empathetic nurturing approach, in line with our ethos and expectations.

We are looking for someone who will:

• be a patient and compassionate practitioner who can offer nurturing support to learners.
• have an understanding of social and communication difficulties and how these can impact upon the school day.
• have an understanding of anxiety lead behaviours and have strategies ready to coregulate with the child.
• be proactive in supporting learning and cognition difficulties, offering a variety of different interventions.
• have an awareness of different sensory needs and how this can impact upon classroom learning.

Recent experience of working with children with additional needs would be an advantage (please include details in your application).

The successful candidate will:

• need to be creative, understand how children learn and be able to form excellent relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues. 
• work predominantly in a 1-1 capacity, but you must also be prepared to work with in a whole class setting.
• work with small group work with children who have additional needs (SEND) in addition to undertaking other duties which support the education and well-being of all pupils. 
• be expected to maintain the high standards established in our school and use strategies in liaison with the teacher to support pupils to achieve their full potential in their learning. 
• be expected to prepare, maintain and use any equipment/resources required in order to deliver the planned relevant leaning activity. 
• have strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
• have energy and enthusiasm with a positive attitude.
